Het heeft in ieder geval het schoolvoorbeeld geleverd van een succesvolle aanpak door een 'nieuw' wijnland dat z'n productie heeft afgestemd op de behoeften van de buitenlandse markt. Dat gebeurde eind jaren '70, begin jaren '80 en werd mede ingegeven door een dalende consumptie in eigen land.
