Deze jonge D.O. had al een zekere prestige verworven in Falset, de subzone van de D.O. Tarragona. De wijngaarden zijn gelegen in een schitterend heuvellandschap, beplant met amandel-, olijf en dennenbomen. Het gebied ligt als een soort hoefijzer om D.O. Priorato heen, maar de wijnen hebben een duidelijk eigen karakter. De productie is verdeeld tussen coöperaties en familiebodega's, die vaak geadviseerd worden door lokaal getrainde jonge enologen.
